Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver

What if you only had one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?
Samantha Kingston has it all: looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last.
The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. Living the last day of her life seven times during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death--and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.”

I don’t usually like the concept of the main character of a book dying, however, this book is a standout. It even makes you think about how much even the smallest of your actions have the potential to cause considerable effects on the lives of the others around you.

Sam starts off as being your classic “mean girl”, with the stereotypical looks, boyfriend and reputation. The beginning of the book makes you wonder why you have chosen to read something that describes this girl’s apparently perfect, envied and yet shallow life in detail.

However, the book then takes a turn and Sam loses her life. The seven days that she remarkably lives through afterwards absolutely drag you in to see everything that she then goes through, and makes you feel for her in a way that you didn’t think you would at the beginning.

The blurb makes the book sound like it has a potentially tedious Groundhog Day type of theme, but it turns out to be so much more, and not in the least bit boring to read.

I highly recommend this book, it genuinely makes you realize that you have to appreciate every moment you have, be grateful for the people you have around you and to live your life to the absolute fullest. Even if you find yourself disliking it through the beginning, keep on reading, as you find yourself appreciating every single detail of the book at the end!
