"Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans, killing them to absorb their energy. But this summer the underwater clan targets Jason Hancock out of pure revenge. Wow. Before reading this, I hadn't read any mermaid books at all. Now, I can't wait to get my hands on more! Lets start with characters! Calder has now stolen my heart. Apart from his amazing name - I have never heard this before but I think it's fantastic! - He is such a decent person/Merman! He knows what he is, he knows what being a Merman entails, yet he continually strives to be different. Lily is a kind soul, who wisdom far surpasses her age. Together, they make a wonderful duo!
As for the plot line, I must say it really did keep me intrigued the whole way through. I never knew much about Mermaid myths, only knowing what I saw in The Little Mermaid, and now I know it is definitely NOT Disney! Although I think not knowing much made reading Lies Beneath so much more exiting! I loved the story, of the reason the siblings are going after the Hancock's, however the twists that you encounter along the way just add to this breath-taking story! I also really liked the detail of why Mermaids kill, and all the different feelings they get! Even though this one hasn't even been released, I can't wait for the next one!
