Starters - Lissa Price

"Callie lost her parents when the Spore Wars wiped out everyone between the ages of twenty and sixty. She and her little brother, Tyler, go on the run, living as squatters with their friend Michael and fighting off renegades who would kill them for a cookie. Callie's only hope is Prime Destinations, a disturbing place in Beverly Hills run by a mysterious figure known as the Old Man.

He hires teens to rent their bodies to Enders—seniors who want to be young again. Callie, desperate for the money that will keep her, Tyler, and Michael alive, agrees to be a donor. But the neurochip they place in Callie's head malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, and going out with a senator's grandson. It feels almost like a fairy tale, until Callie discovers that her renter intends to do more than party—and that Prime Destinations' plans are more evil than Callie could ever have imagined. . . ."

I don't quite know how exactly to start this review. I am still in shock about how amazing this book was! New York Times said that fans of Hunger Games will love it, and I know I certainly did! First off, let me say I absolutely love Dystopian novels. I love seeing how an author portrays the world a different way. Although I must say, I would not want to be caught up in this world!

Lissa Price portrays a world, which is left in devastation, after a war ravaged on, and only children and seniors got the vaccination needed to save them. Callie and her brother Tyler lost their parents, and are living as "unclaimed minors". This means they live in abandoned buildings and scrounge for food. Tyler has a rare lung disorder which could take his life at any time. It eventually gets to the point where Callie decides to make some money by "renting" her body - letting an Ender take over her body for them to be young again for a period of time. This whole concept sounded strange at first, but after continuing to read, I could see how the world might end up with this.

Callie gets caught up in scandal, mystery and trouble - all the while just trying to provide for her little brother. Oh and the small love triangle that occurs within the plot too!
This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. There were so many twists, I could never guess exactly what was going to happen! Get your hands on a copy of it fast!

  3. Starters got a big fat "FABR FAVE" sticker added on top of the cover in my post! This book was great. Usually the hype ends up as a disappointing read, but not in this case. I am glad that you enjoyed it too.
