*WARNING - THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!*

My review of this book is probably going to differ from many of you who do read it, so please don’t let my opinion stop you from reading it. It is a MUST read if you have read both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire as it winds up everything that the previous two leaves you wondering about. However bad I thought it was, I could not possibly recommend to skip reading this book as there has to be an end to this seemingly epic trilogy.

First of all, if you thought the first two books were violent, they don’t compare to what’s in this one!

Secondly, the Katniss-Peeta-Gale love triangle does not end the way that you were led to believe it would. The result may have been predictable, but I felt that it lacked emotion and definitely lacked confrontation. This was the same for a few other key scenes in the book. There was so much unused potential!

Finally, it was frustrating to read through how the character of Katniss had been affected by all the traumatic events that she had been through in the previous books. She had lost a lot of features of her personality that made her the person that everyone grew to know and love. She is seen, more often than not, than no more as a puppet, as she seems too empty and traumatised to feel or think much at all for herself.

Like I said before, this is completely my personal opinion of this book. This opinion is one of the minority, as I have found that most people absolutely loved it.  What let me down was that for such an epic story, with so much fight and passion, came to such a depressing and apathetic end. Whether the film adaptation will be able to redeem it for me will be interesting for sure!
