One Moment - Kristina McBride

"This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.

Maggie Reynolds remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party the night before. She remembers climbing the trail hand in hand with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below—dead?

As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?

The latest novel from the author of The Tension of OppositesOne Moment is a mysterious, searing look at how an instant can change everything you believe about the world around you."

Maggie's world is turned upside down the day her boyfriend Joey dies. She can't remember what happened on top of the cliff, before he fell. But something isn't right and one of her best friends is starting to pull away. Adam is hiding something but Maggie isn't sure what. She knows Adam and Joey had a fight the night before the accident, but why won't he tell her? Maggie starts putting the pieces together herself, until she realises she may not have even known Joey at all.

This book was so gorgeous, I really did love it. I have read plenty of other reviews saying the plot line is predictable, and I found it was too. That didn't make it any less enjoyable for me. I loved following Maggie on her journey, as blind as she may have been to the truth, with what she was going through I probably would have been that blind too.

I really loved all the characters in this book, I felt for all of them alike. However by the end of the novel, I really didn't like Joey. I'm not sure if we were meant to end up not liking him, but I found that the more you learnt about the person he was, the more I disliked him, and he was the dead kid for goodness sake!

This novel really made me question my life and the 'One Moment' that can change everything.  It was a really sad story, but I felt so connected with the characters, it made it seem so real.

For lovers of contemporary and lovers of all books alike, I recommend this book for you to read!
