"In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network. When Zoe starts to malfunction (or "glitch"), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers. As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse. In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy."

Zoe has grown up her whole life thinking that the Community knows best. That being connected to the link and disconnected from feelings is the best way of life. But Zoe likes when she glitches. She can feel, see, smell things differently. She know's she should report herself, she is an anomaly, and they can fix her, but she just can't bring herself to do it. Zoe's world gets shaken when she finds out Max is a glitcher too and Adrien has a gift, same as her.

Zoe is such a strong character. At first, I found it annoying that she was so oblivious, but then I realised that this is what her world is like, one of oblivion. She can't help it and she deals with it the best way she can. By the end, I couldn't believe how much she changed throughout the novel, making her one of the most lovable characters I have ever encountered. Adrien was such a sweet boy, and I found myself comparing him to Max the entire way through the novel - and yes, I like Adrien much much more. Max was a good/bad character, you can see how the glitching is affecting him and you know he seems wrong and the fact that Zoe can't see it made me scream at the book!

This world that Heather Anastasiu has created, makes you question everything. She has built this world, with these amazing characters and it will suck you in. There are twists around every corner, some more obvious than others, but all exciting as you discover more and more as you read.

Glitch is a wonderful new Dystopian novel, one that keeps you entranced from start to finish. The story line is powerful and compelling, making you stop and think about the world that Zoe lives in. This is a fantastic start to a wonderful new trilogy, one I highly recommend.

  1. Thanks for the review! It DOES sound like an amazing dystopian novel right now! I'm on a sort-of dystopian kick so I really want to read it! I might be annoyed at Zoe's character though, but thanks for the heads up!
