Temptation - Karen Ann Hopkins

"Your heart misleads you. That's what my friends and family say. But I love Noah. And he loves me. We met and fell in love in the sleepy farming community of Meadowview, while we rode our horses together through the grassy fields and in those moments in each other's arms. It should be ROSE & NOAH forever, easy. But it won't be. Because he's Amish. And I'm not"

Rose is a 16 year old girl, just moved into the little town of Meadowview. Noah is her gorgeous next door neighbour. The attraction they have for each other is undeniable. But Noah is Amish. He isn't allowed to be thinking of Rose like that, and why is she wearing such revealing clothes? He just doesn't quite understand. Despite this massive obstacle, they discover what they mean to each other and what lengths they will go to to be with each other.

This book was very up and down for me. I feel torn between loving it and dying for the next one and wanting to never think about it again.

Let's start with the amazing - The Amish twist. I have never seen this in a book before! (It might be out there somewhere but I live under a rock most of the time) Just the complete different way of life they lead was an amazing comparison to our modern day life. The way they look at each other, the way they see each other and their differences really pulled at my heart strings, it was so gorgeous! Their romance is anything but normal and it makes it completely overwhelming, in a great way of course. I was rooting for them the whole way through, wanting them to finally come to some sort of agreement so they could just be together.

Now let's look at the not-so-amazing - The Amish twist. Yes, I wrote that for the amazing too. But it really is the reason for my love/hate relationship with this book. Rose can see how hard the Amish lifestyle is, she can barely wait 5 minutes, for the men to serve their own food before the women, without complaining about her stomach rumbling - and she thinks she can handle that? I highly doubt. I believe you can fall in love at a young age, but when it's easy. When it's that difficult, I don't think it can survive. This really irked me the whole way through. Plus Noah's little decision in the end really didn't sit well with me either.

Guess I will have to read the sequel and see if it can clear up some of my feelings. Overall, I found it to be a fantastic read! I am loving the contemporary novels that are being released these days and this is another one that everyone should definitely read!

  1. "The Amish Twist" does seem like an element that can be screwed up easily. Would you say the author did her research?
