The Color of Snow is a heart-wrenching book about love, loss and all the things in between. Sophie has spent her life living in a cage, away from the world, locked up to protect the people around her. Her Papa says she is cursed, and if she isn't careful, she will destroy the people around her. Damien is the boy that tries to rescue her. He says he loves her, but she is cursed. Now the police have taken her away and thrust her into the arms of a family she doesn't know, in a world she doesn't quite understand.
This book was really heart-breaking. I have read a few different reviews that all say it and it's true. I felt for Sophie so much throughout the story, and the emotional rollercoaster she was on. It would be hard enough to have to deal with losing all you have ever known, being thrust into something completely new, but the lies and betrayal that goes along with it felt like a complete overload and I desperately wanted Sophie to push through - and she does, coming out stronger than ever.
What I didn't agree with was Damien and his relationship with Sophie. I felt like it didn't fit in with the story, like she wouldn't/couldn't be ready for something like that, in among everything else.
I definitely recommend this novel to all. With some really strong issues brought to life, this novel will stay with you for a long time.
