The Power of Words!

In this world, skilled surgeons are necessary; computer geniuses who know what all the little buttons and screens are for are necessary. In this world, scientists and mathematicians are necessary; so are police, firefighters, EMT’s, teachers - there are many professions that are a MUST in order for all of us to learn and survive.

The Arts are necessary, as well. Actually, in this age of bad news, the Arts are right up there on the list when it comes to what this country needs in order to feel better. Music, movies, television (some), and books are important to all of us, and with the world of writing comes a great many things that are the foundation of what we believe, what we cling to and live by.

Men and women over the years have provided us with lines that we repeat on a daily basis; they have given to the world storylines that teach us about everything from sins to blessings - and we NEED those words in order to make sense of the world we live in. Not to mention, we need those words in order to enjoy life and have the chance to sit back in a quiet room and get ‘lost’ in a tale of adventure, romance, history, and more!

Writers have had the power to make us look at wars differently, see each other in a new way, allow kids to dream, change our minds about political figures, make us think about historical mysteries that have never been solved…and these words have lingered with us for centuries.

To be, or not to be: that is the question. Shakespeare offered many golden nuggets of wisdom during his lifetime to the literary world. And not only did his writings become great plays and huge in popular culture, but they also taught valuable lessons.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be; For loan oft loses both itself and friend, and borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry…Et tu, Brute!…Beware the Ides of March! And the list goes on and on…

Poe brought many into the realm of creepy, chilly, eeriness and he’s still as popular today as he was in his own time period. Perhaps, even more so. ‘Nevermore!’ will be a part of our culture forever. And The Masque of the Red Death was only one of his tales that taught a lesson to one and all about wealth vs. death that will never be forgotten.

The romantic guru with still no challenger - Jane Austen - made sure that everyone knew how women of her time felt about everything from independence to domination to the sins we all share: It is very often nothing but our own vanity that deceives us. (Pride and Prejudice).

From Moby Dick to The Cat in the Hat, the scribes of the past, present and gosh knows what will be in the future - have wielded very powerful swords when they put their quills to paper. And this is one ‘power’ that you can bet will never, ever die.

Until Next Time, Everybody,
Amy

Read-along Excerpt:

A slight moan escaped his father’s lips, but Gregori took no notice of the man hunched over beside him.

“You are excited about America, then?” Anya kept her tone light and watched the strange, dark eyes of the boy’s father widen, as he stared at a young man eating an apple across the aisle.

“Oh, yes,” Gregori squealed. “I’m going to be a cowboy.”

A laugh escaped Anya’s parched lips. “A cowboy?”

“Yes, in the West of America.”

“And how would you know of such people?”

Reaching his small hand into his coat pocket, Gregori pulled out a yellowed paperback book. The pages were torn and the cover looked as if it’d been opened a thousand times.

Anya took the obviously precious item from his hands. “These are cowboys?”

“Yes,” the boy replied, eagerly snatching back the tattered book. “This is all about a sheriff. That’s another word for policeman. He wears a badge and rounds up outlaws. He rides with cowboys and keeps the rest of the town safe from all the bad people.”

“Well.” Anya smiled. “He seems like a good friend for a boy to have. The job sounds a little risky, though. I’ve heard that those American outlaws are pretty rough. Are you really as brave as that lawman?”

Gregori pursed his lips together in defiance and jutted out his small chin. “Braver.”

Reaching out, Anya placed her arm around the boy’s shoulder. “Then I had better keep you close so you can protect me.”

Synopsis: The Beloved Angel-Warrior Team from Until Next Time Returns!

When Matt and Emily are sent on their second mission they have no idea how truly dark human nature can become...

Emily never wanted to face humans again. With the heartache that went on down below, she’s still trying to figure out how to save souls that don’t deserve saving. The only one she wants to see again is Jason - the young man she fell in love with who became the soulmate she simply can’t forget...

Matt was trained to protect and defend the souls down below. Longing to feel the heartfelt emotions that come from being human, Matt wants nothing more than to have just one life - one chance - to live and love the girl of his dreams...

The powerful team find themselves in a brand new century, living in the Gilded Age of New York City. Emily takes over the body of Anya, a young Russian girl who arrives on Ellis Island after a hideous tragedy. There she meets up with a strangely familiar young man by the name of Drew Parrish, who helps Anya survive in an unknown world of luxury, snobbery and…obsession.

What Anya’s inner angel doesn’t know is that the soul she loves is also back. This time around Jason goes by the name of Max Carrow. Once a quiet and kind boy, he’s now part of the ‘Four Hundred Club,’ and wants nothing more than to be among the most admired as he climbs the shaky ladder of society’s elite.

As two worlds merge, Emily and Matt struggle under the weight of their “Gilded Wings.” Not only will they have to figure out who they should fight to save, but they must also face a romantic choice that could destroy them both.
