Stormbringers -
Philippa Gregory
Released: June 4, 2013
Publisher: Simon Pulse

Synopsis: Luca Vero is a member of the secret Order of Darkness, tasked with searching out and reporting signs of the end of the world. Breaking his journey in Piccolo, he finds a place filled with superstitious fears: of the unknown, of the forces of the sea and sky, of strangers. With him are his loyal friend and servant, Frieze, and his clerk, Brother Peter, as well as the Lady Isolde and her mysterious servant-companion Ishraq. The five of them are followed into the town by a huge children's crusade, led by a self-proclaimed saint. Its young leader promises that the sea will part before them, and allow them to walk dry-shod all the way to Jerusalem. Luca and Lady Isolde are swept up in the growing excitement; but something dangerous is brewing far out to sea...

What I thought: What an incredible sequel to an equally as incredible first novel! Changeling was one of my 5-star books from 2012, so I had high expectations for Stormbringers, but of course Philippa Gregory came through. Luca, Isolde and friends are off again, stopping in the sea-side town of Piccolo for a rest before continuing on their journey. However their plans get halted when hundreds of children arrive, following a young boy who claims to be a saint. He knows things that no one else does, and Luca and Isolde are both entranced by the boy leading the children's crusade. But is he really a saint or is he leading all these people to destruction?

The attraction between Luca and Isolde is growing stronger than ever, even causing a rift between her and Ishraq. Frieze is still his usual jolly self and Brother Peter is the same as well. We meet some new, very important characters that will shake the story as we know it. Mostly, there is secrecy, intrigue, sorrow, pain and love too.

Stormbringers leaves on a wonderful cliffhanger, and I am so very desperate to read the next book in the series! Bring it on!!

The Good: Frieze! He became my favourite character after all the events in this story!

The Bad: Waiting for the next book!!
