Dead of Winter - Kresley Cole
(The Arcana Chronicles #3)

Released: January 6, 2015
Publisher: Simon & Schuster AUS
SynopsisCan Evie convince her rival loves to work together? Their survival depends on it in this third book of #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles, a nonstop action tale of rescue, redemption, and a revenge most wicked.

Heartbreaking decisions
Evie was almost seduced by the life of comfort that Death offered her—until Jack was threatened by two of the most horrific Arcana, the Lovers. She will do anything to save him, even escape Death’s uncanny prison, full of beautiful objects, material comforts…and stolen glances from a former love.

Uncertain victory
Despite leaving a part of her heart behind with Death, Evie sets out into a perilous post-apocalyptic wasteland to meet up with her allies and launch an attack on the Lovers. Such formidable enemies require a battle plan, and the only way to kill them may mean Evie, Jack, and Death allying. Evie doesn’t know what will prove more impossible: surviving slavers, plague, Bagmen and other Arcana—or convincing Jack and Death to work together.

Two heroes returned
There’s a thin line between love and hate, and Evie just doesn’t know where she stands with either Jack or Death. Will this unlikely trio be able to defeat The Lovers without killing one another first...?

What I Thought: We fell in love with Jack in Poison Princess, then swung the other way for Death in Endless Knight and now in Dead of Winter it's finally time to decide. Evie is back and has left Death to go free Jack from the torture of The Lovers. There is a lot at stake, and Death turning up doesn't exactly help the situation. Seeing Jack and seeing Death has Evie's emotions all twisted into knots. How will she ever choose?

This time, Jack and Death have to work together, and somehow try resist killing each other. To defeat the Lovers and save another Arcana, they all have to learn to trust each other, despite the strange history between them all.
Betrayal, confusion, action and of course lust are all smashed together to bring us an amazing third novel in the series.

Then of course, we have to be slammed with a KILLER CLIFFHANGER ENDING. Yup guys, I tell the truth. The other two novels have had them, but neither compare to this one. Make sure you have tissues.

Kresley Cole is a beautiful word-smith, tugging at all our different emotions, making us feel as if we the reader were Evie ourselves. If you loved the first two, then this one will be no different, I can guarantee, and if you haven't read them then you better get started so we can compare notes! :)

The Good: This love triangle (and some of the scenes surrounding) just keeps getting hotter and hotter. The Arcana game is progressing a bit slower, focusing more on Evie and the boys, without being too overpowering.

The Bad: Another year wait for the next book :-(

  1. I haven't read any books in this series yet, and I will probably wait until the next one is released as I hate waiting for books!
