 Author Interview - Debbie Davies

Debbie Davies is the author of Any Love But Mine - Today she stops by to have a chat with us!

Lets start with describing your book in 3 words!

Emotional, deceitful and dark
Intriguing! How long did it take to write Any Love But Mine?
The actual writing part of it only took about 9 months but the editing and re-working took about a year!

Were there any road bumps in the story process?

Oh yes! The whole concept of the story got changed from a ‘dear diary’ sort of book
to the book it is now. I also changed the characters names, what they looked like
and the point in the story where it began. I think that is natural in the writing process
though because once you start letting your ideas out more emerge that are
sometimes better and you have to allow the changes to happen.

Were there any scenes that were harder to write than others?

Yes, the dialogue scenes were much easier to write than the reflective scenes were
Acacia is trying to make sense of what is happening. Acacia is so full of emotions and
conflicts that it was hard to make sure the correct impression of her came across to
the readers.

Who would your dream movie cast be?

I like this question! There are a lot of characters in the book but if I just do the leads
then this won’t be the longest interview in the world

Acacia: I’ve never been able to picture anyone! Suggestions are welcome

Amora: Amanda Seyfried
Allana: Zooey Deschanel

Eros: Chris Hemsworth

Luca: Tyler Blackburn

Josh: Liam Hemsworth

Hades: Jared Leto

Hercules: Kellan Lutz

Stellar Cast! Did you always want to be a writer?

I’ve always been writing either poetry or short stories but I never thought of it as a career. I’ve actually graduated university with a 2:1 Hons degree in Business but when I went on maternity leave to have my little boy I just started writing again.

Future books in the works?

I have wrote the outline for a prequel to Any love but mine telling the story of Eros, but I’m focusing on writing the sequel to Any love but mine.

Random Questions!

Hobbies?

With a 1year old I don’t have that much time but I do love reading and watching my
favourite tv shows (Pretty little liars, vampire diaries, grimm and others like that)

Special Writing Habits?

Not really, when a part of the story comes to my head I just have to get it down before my imagination replaces it with something else. This usually means writing paragraphs on my iPhone when I’m out and then transferring them to my computer when I’m home.

Favourite Book (Apart from your own of course!)

I’m currently in love with everything Jennifer Armentrout writes so if you haven’t read the Lux or Covenant series do it now! After you’ve read mine of course J

Thanks so much for stopping by today, it was great chatting with you!

"Look but don't touch has never been more true...

The gods forbade her to love, but love is a powerful force. Acacia has been created purely for Eros' pleasure but discovers within moments of being summoned into his presence that he has no interest in her whatsoever. Rejected, she is banished to Earth to serve as Eros' minion with the task of promoting the blissful state of love among all those around her, a state she must never indulge in with a human being herself on pain of immediate destruction. And then comes Josh, someone whose power of attraction over Acacia is so intense she will find it utterly impossible to resist him. But is he human? Is he a god? Or is he a trick of the gods? And what would happen should they kiss?"

  2. I bought a copy of this a few weeks ago. I'm half way though and can recommend it so far!

I always find it interesting when an author gives a cast - they never look like how I imagined the characters to look :P
