Day Five - The Future of Book Blogging!

For today, since I am a newbie blogger, I am going to asking all you pro bloggers (and newbie bloggers too I guess!) just a couple things about blogging!

What I want to know is this - Blogger drama. In the 4 months I have been blogging, while I have made plenty of friends, I have also seen plenty of drama. It's seems that if you make one wrong move, someone will pick up on it and you will be "shunned" by that blogger and all their blogger friends. My question to everyone is How do you avoid making a wrong move in the eyes of the blogging community? Is there set do's/don'ts or do you just have to assume what is right/wrong?

I would also love any tips you guys have for me! How to make a blog more likable/readable. What would you like to see more of? Anything that can help me improve my blog for my amazing followers! I am on a waiting list for a brand new blog redesign (I am so excited! Thanks to Lori at Imagination Designs!) so that will be an awesome change when that comes around! I am calling in my 6-month blogoversary present to myself :D

That's it for Amrchair BEA 2012! I have you have enjoyed all the posts and getting to know everyone! Link me your posts so I can come say hey!

  2. Don't worry about making a wrong move. The drama bloggers? You don't want to be friends with them anyway. Plenty of people can blog for years without getting into a fight with someone.

  3. There's enough drama in life to worry about drama in the blogosphere. Just enjoy yourself. Do it for YOU.

  4. I tend to avoid the drama, I'm not a fan of conflict whatsoever so stay away from it all.

  5. Hi Claire, I've been blogging for 3.5 years and have never gotten involved in any kind of blogging drama. I'm not sure what you mean by a "wrong" move that could get someone shunned, but if you don't plagiarize or publicly bad-mouth another blogger, you should be fine.

  6. I am new at blogging. So all the drama was a little scary, but I love to visit your site. I try everything to avoid drama, especially on the internet.

  7. Hmm, I’ve been lucky enough to not experience any drama while I’ve been blogging (knock on wood). But, I would say that those who want to shun you for making a mistake probably weren’t that great of a loss. I don’t have any room for negativity on my site and if there ever were any, I wouldn’t be sad to lose people who want to create drama. So try not to worry about it and focus more on building up a network and community that doesn’t participate in it. That’s the best I’ve got!

  8. My main advice for avoiding drama is that if you made a mistake, admit in and learn from it.
My advice for a more easy to read blog would be a slightly bigger text size that is easier to read.
I hope you had an enjoyable ArmchairBEA this week!

  9. I haven't seen drama between bloggers, but I have seen some with authors. I suggest googling an author before you review them, even if you post a positive review if they are unhinged you could be a target.

  10. I agree with Rachel, slightly larger font in your post body would be a help:)

The drama happens and I tend to unplug when it does start up. (meaning I back away from Twitter, FB, Google+, etc. and don't add my comments to fan the flames)

I wouldn't worry too much about you starting something, just by asking the question means that you aren't the crazed aggressive type. LOL

  12. I know what you mean about drama. I'm terrified of saying the wrong thing that might annoy someone with the power and followers to get me shunned. You just can't let it affect what you do though because there will always be someone who doesn't like what you say or do, it's just the natural way of things.

  13. Drama is part of life and it will happen because there are opposites in every walk of life. But in the end, it's not really worth the worry it causes. Just be yourself which doesn't mean being rude to other bloggers or being harsh to authors. Network on twitter and find friends that have the same zeal for books as you. Have fun while blogging, it's not your job after all.
