Alice in Zombieland -
Gena Showalter
Released: October 1, 2012
Publisher: Harlequin Teen Australia

Synopsis: She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave.

Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

What it's about: After losing her family in a tragic car accident, Alice believes she saw someone - monsters - eating her Mum and Dad. Still rattled by their sudden deaths and the fact that now she thinks her Dad might have not been so crazy after all, Alice struggles to determine if what she is seeing is actually real. Along with having visions of kissing the gorgeous but dangerous Cole, Alice is swept away into a world she didn't know existed - and now she is going to kill every Zombie that gets in her way.

What I thought: There comes a time, when you come across a story so captivating, you can't help but fall in love instantly. This was that novel. Let me repeat - Alice in Zombieland was phenomenal! It's obvious yet subtle. It's passionate yet dangerous. It's everything you want out of a Young Adult Zombie story and so so much more. You can't help but love Alice from the very first page. In fact, you can't help but love all the characters in their own little way, but especially Cole. Oh yes, Cole is the dangerous bad-boy who Alice just can't get enough off, and after reading AIZ, neither will you. Believe me, I fell head over heels.

I am urging you, go and pick up a copy of Alice in Zombieland right now. Don't put it on your "to-be-read" pile and forget about it, just stop whatever your doing and go and read this one now. Now.

the good: The amazing details that Gena Showalter has written throughout this story - it gives it something more.

the bad: There is a whole year wait for the next book! :'(
