The Boys of Summer -
C.J. Duggan
Released: December 17, 2012

Synopsis: It seemed only natural to nickname them the ‘Onslow Boys’. Every time they swaggered in the front door of the Onslow Hotel after a hard week’s work, their laughter was loud and genuine as they settled onto their bar stools. I peeked through the restaurant partition, a flimsy divider between my world and theirs. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I saw them, saw him ... Toby Morrison.

Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.
To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.

How did she let her friends talk her into working?

After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.

All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.

It will be a summer she will always remember.

Warning: sexual references, and occasional course language.

What it's about: Tess has scored herself a summer job - and it's going to be one summer she won't ever forget! From sneaking out to hang out with the Onslow boys, to working in the local hotel, the summer fun is just beginning! But wait, there's more! Just add a drop of drama and a few slashes of comedy and I present to you - The Boys of Summer.

What I thought: This book kept me up until the wee hours of the morning because I literally could not force myself to put it down - I just had to know what happened. Everything about The Boys of Summer absolutely blew me away. Firstly, how gorgeous is that cover? Yes, very eye-catching. Can't wait to have that baby on my book shelf! Next, C.J. Duggan has created this fantastic little town called Onslow - which I desperately want to exist because its sounds awesome! Then there are the Onslow boys which you will have absolutely no choice but to fall in love with - it's a given everyone. Toby, Sean, Stan and Ringer. Toby we get to know quite well and believe me guys, he's the fictional character of your dreams. Read it and weep girls - you've found him. Sean is a strong second runner up for me - I almost loved him as much as Toby, it's true. Stan and Ringer we don't really get to know too well, which is a shame, but we know them enough to know we'd want them as friends. This story is about Tess, but the Onslow boys really do steal the show away. But what I really love the most, is watching Tess go from wallflower extraoidanaire to super-hot babe flirting with all the boys, sneaking out of home. Watching Tess go on this life-changing journey is extremely touching and you just can't help cheer for her. Of course she couldn't have done it without a bit of help from her best friends Ellie and Adam!

I will be recommending this book to anyone who listen basically. Do yourself a favour and go grab a copy now!

The Good: Can I just say everything? Yep. Everything.

The Bad: The next book, isn't released for, like, forever. *Sigh*
