Shatter Me -
Tahereh Mafi
Released: February, 2013
Publisher: Allen & Unwin
Synopsis: I place my hand on his chest. I dare to trace the outline of the bird soaring across his skin. "You're my bird," I tell him. "You're my bird and you're going to help me fly away."

Things happen when people touch Juliette. Strange things. Bad things. Dead things.

No one knows why her touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon.

But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, without love, she's finally discovering her strength -- and maybe even a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.

What it's about: Juliette has a secret. She has been bullied and shunned her whole life because of it, and now she's rotting away in a mental asylum. Her touch is lethal. But now The Reestablishment want to use her as a weapon to fight their war, bringing her closer to Adam, the boy she's knows since childhood.

What I thought: Everyone has been raving about this book, and for good reason. I decided it was time to follow the crowd and I devoured this book in one night. It was amazing. Juliette is so fragile and weak, lost in her own horrendous memories, despite the amazing power she wields. Stuck in a mental institution, she gains a cellmate. A gorgeous boy with stunning blue eyes. But everything isn't as it seems.

Mafi has done an amazing job creating this dystopian world, with a fantastic set of characters to accompany it. I loved Juliette, I loved Adam, and I disliked Warner (but should I have? My friend thinks not!). I loved the slow pace of the novel, only revealing things in time.

Wonderful start to what I can tell will be an amazing series. Amazing.

The Good: I just want Adam to love me!

The Bad: Waiting so long to pick this book up
