Okay, so far I've covered the Contemp, Dystopian and Fantasy. Today, I want to share my favourite novels based around mythology!
I love mythology because I find it interesting to see how each author is going to spin a well-known (or slightly lesser known) tale. Plus, I feel like once I start reading these kinds of novels, I'm always switching to Google so I can research the original stories. So much fun to be had!

I love mythology because I find it interesting to see how each author is going to spin a well-known (or slightly lesser known) tale. Plus, I feel like once I start reading these kinds of novels, I'm always switching to Google so I can research the original stories. So much fun to be had!

My favourite mythical series would have to be The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. She takes basic Greek mythology and gives it a fantastic new spin. I know some people aren't too keen on this series, but each to their own. I was addicted after the first.
Another popular series is the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I read the first two, but the fact that they were middle grade novels put me off. Now don't get me wrong, I love some middle-grade novels, but I made the mistake of watching the movie adaptation first, so I just kept imagining Percy to be sixteen, not twelve. Off-putting I tell you!
Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson was another fantastic novel, based on the Valkyrie's from Norse mythology. Norse mythology wasn't something I'd really known much about - except from watching Thor. But this was a well-written novel, and made me discover just how great Norse mythology is!
A lesser known novel is Oppression by Jessica Therrien. An Indie book that could well have been published by one of the big six. It's about a girl who is a descendant from Greek Gods, giving the stories yet another twist!
Other mythology-based books sitting on my shelf waiting to be read are: Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini, Everneath by Brodi Ashton and Abandon by Meg Cabot.
